Designers to Keep an Eye On

One of the most gratifying aspects of being Florida’s top furniture retailer is that it gives our Design Team a chance to discover new furniture designers and connect with established designers who have continually reinvented themselves. There have been exciting new designs in 2023, and we want to introduce them to our valued customers. If you haven’t been to a Baer’s Furniture showroom recently, you really need to stop in for a visit and peruse the exciting new designs. In the meantime, we want you to look out for these furniture designers.

Barclay Butera is known for his West Coast design style, inspired by his Golden State roots. A product of the vaunted Newport Beach Interior Design Institute, Barclay Butera started his first showroom in Newport Beach nearly 30 years ago. Barclay went on to establish a partnership with Lexington Home Brands, as well as several other celebrated furniture companies. 

The Avalon Upholstered Bed is part of Barclay Butera’s Laguna collection — inspired by Laguna Beach, CA. It’s plush, fresh, and welcoming, and will work with many different décor styles. Additionally, it’s a standout piece that will look amazing in your bedroom.

If we journey back to the east coast, we will find NY designer Michael Weiss making waves in the home furnishing industry. Michael Weiss has received many prestigious awards, including the Pinnacle Award for Design Excellence and the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architectural and Design’s (CAMAD) Good Design Award. Michael Weiss calls his singular design style “modern with a twist.” 

If you don’t really know what that means, check out the Bowers Desk with Filing Cabinet from the Michael Weiss Collection, offered by Vanguard Furniture. This desk is constructed from several types of wood with metal accents. Its clean lines and subtle tones make it simple enough to be considered minimalist, but there are some interesting accents on the drawer panels.

You may know Miranda Kerr from her career as a model and actress, but Ms. Kerr has not established herself as a tour de force in the world of interior design. Partnering with some innovative designers to bring us her Love. Joy. Bliss furniture line. While she seems to draw inspiration from Mid-Century Modern and contemporary, her pieces have distinctly feminine hues. 

The Peony Drawer Chest is an excellent example of a Miranda Kerr Home piece from this collection. The warm white has the faintest glow of pink, and the ornate handles are shaped like four-pedal flowers. With ten separate drawers, it’s not only a gorgeous piece of furniture but also highly functional.

Tommy Bahama Home continues to impress in 2023 with an incredible array of furniture collections. Did you know that Baer’s Furniture is the number one retailer of Tommy Bahama Home Furniture in the world? That’s because our customers know quality design when they see it. One of our favorite Tommy Bahama Home Collections is the Ocean Club Collection. A good example of why we love this collection is the Sea Glass Buffet. This piece has a Mid-Century Modern feel with four sand-blasted glass drawers and a walnut finish. The interior is lighted and has two fabric-lined drawers and adjustable glass shelves. It’s one of those rare pieces that look as good with the cabinet doors open as it does when they’re closed.
